And what better way to celebrate than to be granted my own personal Google doodle?
Thanks Google. You made my day.
Happy Birthday to me. This year, on this special day, I’ll be having dinner with some of my friends and then watching the fireworks displays of Guy Fawkes Day and Diwali in Trafalgar Square. I guess I’m fortunate to have two firework festivals on the same day as my birthday this year.
Happy Birthday to me.
Happy Birthday to me (cue song). I just turned the much dreaded age of thirty. My parents called to wish me over telephone at midnight. A little later on today after some sleep it’s back to work as usual. It’s odd – although I feel perfectly comfortable announcing this publicly here I haven’t told anyone close to me who doesn’t already know.
To be honest I can’t believe it. For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to avoid turning thirty at all costs and now that it’s happened it’s just as frightening as was the anticipation of it. I’ve always associated this age with completion (or expiry) of a defining phase of my life that sets the scene for the remainder whether that be the phase of youth, growth, zeal or learning. Now that I’m past that I feel distinctly aged – perhaps unnecessarily so.
My consolation is that I’ve met the goals I set myself long back to meet by this date (but only just) which I’m very happy and relieved about. The past five years have been a tremendous journey and I eagerly look forward to what the next five bring my way. Cue the fireworks – which always go off today every year as it’s also Guy Fawkes day 🙂
